The social media posts of the father of the attacker who martyred two police officers in Izmir have drawn reactions. The father shared photos of the birds he hunted and his son posing with a toy gun on his Facebook account. Additionally, he had posts containing anti-Republic and anti-Atatürk statements.
Two police officers were martyred and six others were injured in an armed attack on the Salih İşgören Police Station in the Balçova district of İzmir. The 16-year-old assailant was captured injured, while the posts made by his father were shocking.
ARRIVED AT THE POLICE STATION WEARING A MASK
In the attack that took place yesterday morning, 16-year-old high school student E.B. arrived at the police station wearing a mask and carrying a backpack. After waiting for a while in the park across from the station, the assailant opened fire at the guard post at the entrance. Hearing the gunshots, First Class Police Chief Muhsin Aydemir came down from his house in the lodge and returned fire at the assailant. Aydemir, who was seriously injured during the clash, was martyred. Police officer Ömer Amilağ was injured in the neck, and Murat Dağlı was injured in the leg. A total of six people were injured in the incident.
THE WEAPON BELONGED TO HIS FATHER
İzmir Governor Süleyman Elban stated that the assailant had no criminal record and that the weapon used in the incident belonged to his father. It was reported that the assailant was captured injured and is under treatment at Alsancak State Hospital. Governor Elban emphasized that the incident is being investigated from multiple angles, stating, "The suspect who committed the act is 16 years old. So far, there is no criminal record."

The past posts of the assailant's father N.B. and mother A.B., who were taken into custody as part of the investigation, have come to the fore. It has emerged that the father shared images of birds he hunted on social media, as well as photos of his son posing with a toy gun.
