After the drone attacks on Nakhchivan, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev put the army on a level 1 mobilization status and ordered the armed forces to be brought to full combat readiness. Following the decision, videos shared on social media showed artillery units moving in convoys towards the border line.

The President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, put the army on the highest state of mobilization across the country following drone attacks targeting Nakhchivan. In line with the decision made at the Security Council meeting, the Armed Forces, State Border Service, and Special Forces were put on full combat readiness.

INTERPRETED AS WAR PREPARATION

According to reports from Adalat.az, Azerbaijan has entered a "level 1 mobilization" status. Although this decision does not directly mean a declaration of war, it is considered one of the highest levels of alert indicating that the country has entered a state of war preparation.

"BE READY FOR OPERATION" MESSAGE

Aliyev stated that the armed forces must be ready for any operation, giving the order to deploy military units to combat positions and to call up reserve personnel. Following the decision, images shared on social media showed artillery units moving in convoys towards the border line.

NAKHCHIVAN ATTACK ESCALATED TENSIONS

The Azerbaijani administration announced that Iranian-made drones targeted the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. President Aliyev described the attack as a "terrorist act," stating that those who carried out the attack would pay the price. With the increase in military activity in the region, assessments are being made that tensions in the South Caucasus could escalate.

ALIYEV SPOKE HARSHLY

In a statement regarding the attack on the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic by drones from Iran, Aliyev noted that no other head of state had visited any Iranian embassy except for himself, saying, "Not appreciating this, belittling it, and showing themselves as low and ungrateful brings no honor to anyone. Those dishonorable individuals who carried out this terrorist act against us will regret it. They should not test our strength. The heads of those who want to test our strength were broken through the 'Iron Fist.' Today's incident will yield the same result. Therefore, an action plan regarding this issue must be prepared. All instructions have been given. The Iranian Ambassador to Baku has been summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and a protest note has been issued. Other diplomatic steps will also be taken. Necessary instructions regarding the border have been given," he said.
