A 5-year-old girl named M.N.B., who was taken to the hospital on the claim of being electrocuted in the Harran district of Şanlıurfa, has lost her life. While allegations of sexual abuse against the child circulated on social media, the Şanlıurfa Governorship announced that an investigation has been initiated regarding the matter and that the inquiry is ongoing. The incident occurred on January 15 in the Oğulcuk neighborhood of the Harran district. It was determined that M.N.B., who was taken to Harran State Hospital on the claim of being electrocuted by her family, had passed away. While the child was being buried, a report allegedly prepared by the hospital doctor regarding M.N.B. was shared on social media. According to the report, bite marks and signs of sexual abuse were found on the child's body. FIRST STATEMENT: SEXUAL ABUSE OCCURREDFollowing the allegations, the Şanlıurfa Governorship initiated an investigation, and the Şanlıurfa Bar Association's Child Rights Commission made a statement regarding the incident. In the statement made on social media, it was stated that the child lost her life after being sexually abused. As reactions to M.N.B.'s death grew, a second statement came from the same commission. SECOND STATEMENT: NO EVIDENCE OF SEXUAL ABUSE FOUNDIn the second statement from the Şanlıurfa Bar Association's Child Rights Commission, it was stated, "The news circulating in the public regarding the death of our 5-year-old daughter M.N.B., who was brought to Şanlıurfa Harran State Hospital as deceased 2 days ago, is being followed with deep sadness and concern by us. In our discussions with the investigation authorities, it has been learned that no evidence of sexual abuse has been found at this time. However, comprehensive forensic examinations and further testing processes are ongoing to determine the exact cause of death. As the Şanlıurfa Bar Association and the Child Rights Commission, we will meticulously follow all stages of the legal process," it was said. A SPECIAL TEAM HAS BEEN FORMED, THE FAMILY'S STATEMENT HAS BEEN TAKENOn the other hand, a special team was formed by the Şanlıurfa Provincial Gendarmerie Command to clarify the incident. The team consulted the child's family's statement. The family claimed that the child was taken to the hospital due to electrocution and that on the day of the incident, after eating raw meatballs, she became unwell and scratched her face and neck.
