Zübeyir Canatan, who killed his wife Songül Canatan and their 7-year-old daughter in the Serik district of Antalya, stated in his first statement that he had psychological issues, saying, "I lost my mind at that moment." Canatan, who mentioned that he had a dispute with his wife, went to Ankara after the incident to surrender and was hospitalized for treatment under the instruction of the prosecutor's office.
Security guard Zübeyir Canatan (45), who killed his wife Songül Canatan (43) and daughter Sena Canatan (7) by cutting their throats with a knife in the Serik district of Antalya, said in his first statement, "I had psychological problems, I lost my mind at that moment." Canatan, who reportedly took 20 days off from work due to his psychological issues, was hospitalized in Ankara under the instruction of the prosecutor's office.
The incident occurred the day before yesterday around 10:00 PM in an apartment on the first floor of a three-story building on 30 August Street in the Orta neighborhood of Serik district. Zübeyir Canatan, who worked as a security guard at a hotel, killed his wife Songül and daughter Sena by cutting their throats with a knife. Neighbors, noticing that no one had left the house in the morning, knocked on the door, and when there was no answer, they reported it to the police. Upon receiving the notification, the police team that arrived at the address also did not get a response, so they opened the door and entered the house. The police found the lifeless bodies of the mother and daughter in the room. The medical team that was called confirmed that Songül Canatan and her daughter Sena had lost their lives. After the examination by the public prosecutor, the bodies of the mother and daughter were taken to the Antalya Forensic Medicine Institution morgue.
FIRST STATEMENT REVEALED
It was determined that Zübeyir Canatan left the house with two suitcases after the incident and surrendered to the police in Ankara. In his first statement, Canatan reportedly said, "I had psychological problems, I lost my mind at that moment. I had a fight with my wife. As a result of the argument, I killed my wife and daughter." It was reported that the suspect was hospitalized in Ankara under the instruction of the prosecutor's office.
TOOK 20 DAYS OFF
It was learned that Zübeyir Canatan, who worked as a security guard at a hotel in Serik, took 20 days off from work on January 2, claiming he had psychological problems.
