Last October in Beyoğlu, police teams who captured a suspect with an arrest warrant were confronted by an individual who pointed a gun at them as they were heading to the police station. The security teams, who intervened and detained the suspect, seized 61 kilograms of marijuana with an estimated market value of approximately 50 million lira during a search of his home. Footage of the moments when the suspect pointed a gun at the police and the search conducted at his home has emerged. The B Region Security Teams, affiliated with the Istanbul Security Teams Branch Directorate, detained an individual they stopped on suspicion last October after a warrant was issued for him. While the suspect was being taken to the police station for processing, a person approached the police teams, asking, "What’s going on, who are you?" Despite the security teams stating that they were police, the individual continued to argue, responding, "What if you are police? Who do you think you are, putting handcuffs on this guy?" POINTED A GUN AT THE POLICE, DISABLEDIn response, the police teams attempted to remove the assailant. However, the suspect turned his back and suddenly drew his weapon, pointing it at the officers. Just as the suspect was about to pull the trigger, the security teams neutralized him. Footage from security cameras of the incident has emerged. The suspect, whose unlicensed firearm was also seized, was taken to the police station. The police identified the suspect as Osman T. (31) and moved to conduct a search at his home in the Eyüpsultan Yeşilpınar neighborhood. 61 KILOGRAMS OF MARIJUANA FOUNDDuring the raid on the house, the security teams saw Osman T.'s mother, Şükran Y., running to the bedroom and taking 14,800 lira from among the clothes. While the money was seized, a precise scale was found on top of the refrigerator during a search in the kitchen. Continuing their searches, the security teams entered the garden and seized approximately 61 kilograms of packaged marijuana from inside bags. The police confiscated items from those present in the house, and Şükran Y. was also detained. MARKET VALUE APPROXIMATELY 50 MILLIONŞükran Y. and her son Osman T. were taken to the police station for their statements and legal proceedings were initiated. It was revealed that Osman T. was involved in a "deliberate murder" case in 2021. After their processing, Osman T. was referred to the courthouse and was arrested on charges of "armed threat," "violation of the firearms law," and "trafficking in narcotic substances," while his mother Şükran Y. was released under judicial control conditions.
