The village of Thiberville in the Normandy region of France has made headlines with its extraordinary inheritance. The village received a legacy of 10 million euros from 91-year-old French millionaire Roger Thiberville, who shares the same name. Living in an apartment in Paris, Roger Thiberville never visited the village during his lifetime. HERE IS THE REASON FOR THE INHERITANCEIn his will, Thiberville decided to leave a large portion of his inheritance to the village, an amount that equals five times the village's annual budget. Thiberville also left a portion of his inheritance to his accountant, while the remaining 10 million euros were bequeathed to the village from which his surname originates. According to a report by BILD; Thiberville's Mayor Guy Paris could not hide his astonishment when he first received the news. Paris stated, "I was very surprised when the notary called to inform us, but I was even more shocked when I learned the amount." THE FIRST THING THEY DID WAS PAY OFF THE VILLAGE'S DEBTSWith the remaining money from the inheritance, the first action taken was to pay off the village's debts amounting to 407,000 euros. It was learned that the remaining funds would be used to develop infrastructure projects and public services. Plans include renovating a playground, modernizing the primary school for energy efficiency, constructing a new fire station, and installing synthetic turf on the football field. A MONUMENT WILL BE ERECTED IN HIS NAMEThe ashes of Roger Thiberville were also buried in the village cemetery. A monument will be built to honor his name and generosity in the village. This gesture has become a beautiful example of how a small village can change with a significant inheritance.
