Yum! Brands, which also owns KFC and Taco Bell, has completed the sale of its Pizza Hut operations for a total of $2.7 billion. Following the closure of 537 restaurants belonging to KFC and Pizza Hut in Turkey, there is curiosity about whether the brands will resume operations, but there is no definitive timetable yet for Pizza Hut's return to Turkey.
Yum! Brands, one of the world's largest restaurant companies, has completed the notable sale process regarding its Pizza Hut brand. The company transferred Pizza Hut operations outside Mainland China to LongRange Capital for approximately $1.5 billion.
Prior to this transaction, the sale of Pizza Hut operations in Mainland China to Yum China Holdings for $1.2 billion was completed on August 7, 2026. Thus, the total size of the two separate transactions reached $2.7 billion.
TWO-PHASE SALE WORTH $2.7 BILLION
Under the terms of the agreement, Yum! Brands also has the right to receive additional payments of up to $75 million by 2030, depending on future performance.
While it was stated that the sale prices are subject to final price adjustments, a new era has begun in Pizza Hut operations with the completion of the two transactions.
YUM! BRANDS TO FOCUS ON ITS OTHER BRANDS
Yum! Brands announced that it will focus on its other restaurant brands such as KFC, Taco Bell, and Habit Burger & Grill in the upcoming period.
In a statement following the sale, the company's CEO, Chris Turner, said, "With the completion of this transaction, Yum! Brands moves forward as a more focused company. There are significant opportunities for growth worldwide."
The holding continues its operations with tens of thousands of restaurants in 151 countries and regions worldwide.
ATTENTION TURNS TO TURKIYE
Following the sale, the future of Pizza Hut in Turkiye has once again become a matter of curiosity. Hundreds of KFC and Pizza Hut branches in Turkiye were closed in 2025.
After the operator of the brands in Turkiye, İş Gıda AŞ, failed to fulfill its financial obligations, Yum! Brands terminated the franchise agreement and announced that 537 KFC and Pizza Hut restaurants would close.
In the subsequent period, news emerged that the brands could return to Turkiye with a different business model or a new partnership. However, no definitive timeline has been announced for the resumption of Pizza Hut operations in Turkiye in the meantime.
GLOBAL GIANTS TOOK PART IN THE SALE
International financial and law firms also took part in the multi-billion dollar sale process. Goldman Sachs and Barclays provided financial advisory to Yum! Brands, while Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP acted as transaction advisor in the process.
Baker McKenzie provided international corporate and intellectual property advisory, Dinsmore and Shohl LLP provided advisory for the sale of Pizza Hut operations outside China, and Mayer Brown LLP provided advisory services for the transaction in China.
Yum! Brands management reported that the completed sales represent a significant milestone in the company's transformation and that it will focus on the growth of its remaining brands in the coming period.
