The grave of 26-year-old Merve Ateş, who has been missing since the earthquakes on February 6th in Hatay, was found in a cemetery in the İskenderun district as a result of DNA matching. It was learned that Ateş's family will apply for a new DNA test in order to confirm the identity of the unnamed person buried in the grave.
In earthquakes centered in Kahramanmaraş, thousands of people lost their lives in Hatay and some individuals were never heard from again. Merve Ateş, who was caught in the earthquake in Mustafa Kemal Neighborhood in İskenderun district, lost her parents in the wreckage. No trace of the young woman was found in the wreckage of the house where she lived with her family.
HER FUNERAL WAS FOUND IN İSKENDERUN
Upon this situation, Merve's sister İlknur Karaca appeared on many platforms and did her best to find her sister. The sad news about the young woman came in the 18th month of the century's disaster. It was determined that Ateş's funeral was buried in Çankaya Cemetery in İskenderun through DNA matches and checks made with pictures.
THEY WILL REQUEST A NEW DNA TEST
It was learned that the cemetery records included information that the young woman was buried anonymously by the security forces on the 3rd or 4th day of the earthquake. On the other hand, it was reported that the young woman's family will apply for a new DNA test to clarify the result.
