The era of "many-to-many, few-to-few" is starting in electricity and natural gas.

The era of

The Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Alparslan Bayraktar, stated that they are working on removing subsidies for high-consumption subscribers in electricity and natural gas, and that these subscribers will purchase electricity at real prices in the new year. He mentioned that only 3% of total subscribers would be affected by this implementation.

The Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Alparslan Bayraktar, announced the new tariff to be applied to electricity prices during a live broadcast on CNN Türk. Emphasizing that the support provided to low-income groups and the majority of subscribers will continue, Minister Bayraktar stated that there will be changes for high consumption and explained the details of the "pay as you consume" application.

Minister Bayraktar continued his statements as follows: Our goal is to provide the cheapest quality electricity. After 2020, the world has experienced very significant crises in a very short time. There is a climate crisis, the Ukraine-Russia war, and disruptions in the supply chain. We have seen changes in commodity prices and witnessed major crises. During this period, we have been striving to find ways to minimize the impact of these crises on our citizens.

THERE ARE TWO MAIN GROUPS WE PROVIDE SUPPORT FOR IN ELECTRICITY AND NATURAL GAS

In the first group, we have a support program aimed at our low-income citizens. It concerns 4.1 million households, which is about ten percent of our total subscribers. If three people live in a household, we cover the part of the bill up to 100 kilowatt-hours. The amount above that is paid by the citizen.

In the second group, we provide support to all of our subscribers. Here, the costs up to 240 kilowatt-hours are charged at the normal price, and the amount exceeding this is multiplied by two. If you consume 200 kilowatt-hours monthly, which is about 7 kilowatt-hours daily, you are paying a bill of around 400-450 TL.

THE "MUCH FROM MUCH, LESS FROM LESS" PERIOD IN BILLS

We have a study aimed for 2025. There is a group that consumes twice the average consumption in Turkey. We tell them: "You do not need to be part of this supported group." Indicate what the cost of electricity is. We have conducted our work on this issue at a technical level. We also have such an application for natural gas. There will be a price increase for those who really do not need support.

THE REGULATION AFFECTS 3% OF TOTAL SUBSCRIBERS

The essence of the regulation is to calculate based on cost. There will be no price increase related to this issue for 38.8 million subscribers. There are some claims: "Those who pay a 500 TL bill will pay 1000 TL." Such a thing is not the case. As long as you do not consume more than twice what you consume, there is no problem. In the new period, the price increase concerns a 3% segment with very high consumption. There is a serious injustice.
