The process that started with the call of MHP leader Bahçeli continued with the DEM Party delegation's meeting with terrorist leader Öcalan in İmralı after a 4.5-year hiatus. After the İmralı visit, the delegation went on a tour of the Parliament to meet with political parties and engage in discussions on the matter.

THE DELEGATION WILL MEET WITH DEMİRTAŞ

The DEM Party delegation, consisting of Sırrı Süreyya Önder, Pervin Buldan, and Ahmet Türk, will meet with Selahattin Demirtaş, who is imprisoned in Edirne Prison, today. The visit is planned to take place at 1:00 PM. Demirtaş, who has been in prison since 2016, was sentenced to 42 years in prison in a case related to the street protests that occurred on October 6-8, 2014.

FIGEN YÜKSEKDAĞ WILL ALSO BE VISITED

The DEM Party delegation will meet with Figen Yüksekdağ, who is imprisoned in Kocaeli Kandıra Prison, on Sunday. This visit is also planned to take place at 1:00 PM.

THE DELEGATION WILL GO TO İMRALI ONCE AGAIN

It is expected that the DEM Party delegation will make a second visit to İmralı shortly after completing their contacts.

HOW DID THE İMRALI PROCESS BEGIN?

The process began with the call made by MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli on October 22. In his statement at the party's group meeting, Bahçeli said, "If the terrorist leader's isolation is lifted, let him come and speak at the TBMM DEM Party Group Meeting, proclaiming that terrorism has completely ended and the organization has been dissolved. If he shows this determination and resolve, the legal arrangement regarding the use of the 'right to hope' should be made, and the way for him to benefit from it should be opened wide." Shortly after this statement, Bahçeli called for permission to be granted to the DEM Party delegation to go to İmralı.

On November 26, the DEM Party applied to the Ministry of Justice to be able to meet with terrorist organization leader Abdullah Öcalan in İmralı. On December 27, Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç announced that the DEM Party's request for a meeting had been positively responded to.

VISITS TO POLITICAL PARTIES BY THE DELEGATION

On December 28, Sırrı Süreyya Önder, Pervin Buldan, and Ahmet Türk, who met with terrorist organization leader Abdullah Öcalan, initiated a visit tour to political parties as the DEM Party İmralı delegation. The political tour of the DEM members started with TBMM President Numan Kurtulmuş and continued with MHP and AK Party. Subsequently, meetings were also held with CHP, DEVA, Saadet, and the New Welfare Party. Sırrı Süreyya Önder, Pervin Buldan, and Ahmet Türk exchanged ideas with political parties and listened to suggestions. The DEM Party delegation also shared their own ideas during the meetings.
