After the forest fires in the Gürsu district of Bursa, only ashes, darkness, and silence remain. The disaster, which turned hundreds of hectares into ashes, is once again heartbreaking with images from before and after the fire. Nature, once dominated by every shade of green, is now cloaked in black.

The forest fires that burned the lungs of Bursa left behind darkness and silence. The images of hundreds of hectares turned to ash, once lush and filled with the sounds of birds, drew a deep "ah" from the viewers. The comparison of the region's state before and after the fire once again revealed the scale of the tragedy.
"WE ARE IN GREAT PAIN"
Gürsu Mayor Mustafa Işık stated, "We worked hard for the Katırlı Mountains to receive the value it deserves. We have done a lot in terms of tourism here. Not only our forests but also our picnic area and facilities burned. There are many images on social media. We compared these images with the ones from before. Watching them really hurts us deeply. Aside from our material losses, we lost three of our children as martyrs. This hurts us even more," he said.
ROAD OPENING WORKS ARE BEING CARRIED OUT
Reminding that all the burned lands belong to the Ministry of Forestry, Gürsu Mayor Mustafa Işık stated that they collected requests from five neighborhoods and prepared a report. In Gürsu, where cooling efforts are still ongoing, the damage assessment report will be submitted to the officials of the Ministry of Forestry after it is prepared. Mayor Işık said, "We are carrying out road opening works to prevent danger to the residential areas we need during the fire. We are opening roads that will respond to the dangers coming from those roads. We can also call this a secondary road or a tree-free protection strip," he said.
Mayor Işık stated that there was no damage in any village, that they prevented houses from being damaged thanks to the firefighting teams, and that currently there are no citizens who have not returned to their homes in any village.
"WE WILL RETURN IT TO ITS OLD STATE"
Stating that there has been a strong demand for the green area creation and tree planting campaign, Mayor Mustafa Işık said, "First, a damage assessment report will be prepared, cooling efforts will be completed, and hopefully, we will restore Gürsu to its former state in coordination with the Ministry of Forestry. Together, we will plant our saplings here. This is our wish. The Turkish nation is sensible. Together with our people, we will green this place and restore it to its former magnificent state," he said.
