In the Bozova district of Şanlıurfa, the investigation into journeyman Habip Aksoy, who caused the death of 15-year-old apprentice Muhammed Kendirci by torturing him with an air compressor, has been completed. The Heavy Penal Court is seeking a life sentence for the defendant on charges of 'murder by possible intent' and has requested that the case be transferred to another province for security reasons.

An important development occurred in the judicial process of the murder that took place last year in the industrial zone of Bozova, Şanlıurfa, which horrified all of Turkey. The indictment for the unimaginable incident resulting in the death of 15-year-old Muhammed Kendirci was accepted by the 10th Heavy Penal Court of Şanlıurfa.

HE HELD A COMPRESSOR TO THE APPRENTICE'S ANUS

On November 14, 2025, in an industrial zone in Bozova, Habip Aksoy, who worked as a journeyman in the workshop, first restricted the movement of apprentice Muhammed Kendirci by tying his hands. He then forcibly removed the child's pants and held a high-pressure air compressor to his anal area. The unfortunate child, who suffered severe damage to his internal organs and collapsed in pain, lost his life after a 4-day struggle in the intensive care unit of Harran University Research and Application Hospital, where he was taken.

HE WAS RE-ARRESTED FOLLOWING REACTIONS

After the incident, the suspect journeyman Habip Aksoy, initially released under judicial supervision, was taken back into custody upon the prosecutor's objection following widespread public and social media backlash. Aksoy, who was caught red-handed by police while preparing to flee to Gaziantep, was arrested by the duty court.

DETAILS IN THE INDICTMENT WERE BLOOD-CURDLING

According to the indictment accepted by the 10th Heavy Penal Court of Şanlıurfa, the technical details of the horrific incident became clear. It was emphasized that the compressor used in the incident had a very high pressure capacity of 12 bars, and that applying this device from close range could cause fatal damage to the human body even through clothing. The indictment stated that there was no past animosity between the defendant and the victim child. However, noting that the defendant Aksoy had the experience to know the fatal risks of these devices due to his profession, it was concluded that the act constituted the crime of 'possible intentional killing of a child', and a life sentence was requested for the defendant.

REQUEST TO TRANSFER THE HEARING TO ANOTHER CITY

The 10th Heavy Penal Court of Şanlıurfa, completing the preparatory hearing record of the case, made a notable decision. Recalling that the incident had led to protests and marches across the city, the court panel requested that the case be transferred to another city outside Şanlıurfa to ensure the trial could be conducted in a fully peaceful and secure environment. It was reported that if the transfer request sent to the Ministry of Justice is rejected, the first hearing of the case will be held in Şanlıurfa on September 23, 2026.
