Due to the severe downpour affecting Istanbul, the Kağıthane Stream overflowed, and the historic Sadabad Mosque was flooded. As floodwaters filled the mosque and its garden, the prayer area was completely covered with water, and the lower part of the minbar remained underwater.

Heavy rain that began in Istanbul during the evening hours and continued intermittently throughout the night caused flooding in Kağıthane. After the intense rainfall, the overflowing of the Kağıthane Stream also caused nearby historical structures to be affected by floodwaters.

The historic Sadabad Mosque located by the stream was one of the spots most affected by the flood.

WATER FILLED THE HISTORIC MOSQUE

The waters of the overflowing stream entered through the garden of the Sadabad Mosque and covered the worship area. As the water level inside the mosque rose, the lower part of the minbar also remained underwater.

Due to the flood, the Sedef Workshop located in the mosque's garden and the surrounding outbuildings were also flooded.

THE CAR IN FRONT OF THE MOSQUE REMAINED UNDERWATER

The floodwaters affected not only the historical structures but also vehicles parked in the surrounding area. A car in front of the mosque was seen partially submerged.

ENTRANCES AND EXITS TO THE MOSQUE WERE STOPPED

After the flooding, municipal law enforcement teams took security measures in the area. To guard against potential dangers, the mosque's garden gates were closed and entrances and exits were halted.
