Two days before the end of the 9-day Eid al-Adha holiday, citizens returning from the Black Sea Region to Istanbul and western provinces created congestion on the Kemikli ramps of the Karabük-Gerede highway. The traffic density, which continued past midnight, was captured as seen. Thousands of vehicles formed long queues on the 1325-meter-high Kemikli ramps, located on the connecting route of 21 provinces and one of the most important transit points for Black Sea transportation. The headlights of vehicles moving along the winding roads created a virtual sea of light in the darkness of the night.
INSPECTIONS INCREASED
The congestion, which persisted into the late hours of the night, was captured by drone, highlighting vehicle queues stretching for kilometers. Traffic teams on duty in the region increased their inspections and took extensive security measures to prevent disruptions in transportation.
It was learned that the holiday return traffic is expected to continue until late Sunday. Authorities warned drivers to obey speed limits, maintain following distance, and not drive while tired.
