Turkey experienced one of its most painful days yesterday. Many mothers and fathers who wanted to give their children a report card gift had gone on a happy holiday with their families. The fire that started at 03:21 yesterday morning turned into a disaster. Many families, from small children to parents, from grandchildren to daughters-in-law, were lost. Turkey lost 76 lives in the fire at the hotel in Kartalkaya.

FIRST STATEMENT FROM THE HOTEL

The first statement regarding the incident that broke the hearts of all Turkey with the loss of 76 lives came from the management of the Grand Kartal Hotel. In a post made on the hotel's social media account, it was stated, "We are saddened by the fire that occurred in our hotel today. We pray for the deceased guests and our team members, and we wish patience and condolences to their relatives, and urgent healing to our injured. This tragic event has shaken us all so deeply that we cannot describe it. We have experienced and are experiencing this pain most intensely because our family members, our children, our grandchildren, our friends, and our colleagues were also in the hotel. We are cooperating with the authorities to clarify all aspects of the incident. We are very sorry for the losses experienced, and we want you to know that we share this pain from the heart," was expressed.

GREAT BACKLASH

This statement from the hotel, which is said to have negligence such as sprinkler systems, fire ring roads, fire escapes, and fire alarms, quickly drew great backlash.

• What will you do with the burden of so many lives? You have made an empty statement.
• Delete that post and do not share this pain. You have no right to be part of our grief.
