The Sarıcakaya district of Eskişehir was selected as Turkey's hottest place on August 15, 2023, when thermometers reached 49.5 degrees Celsius, breaking the all-time national temperature record at the time. High temperatures were recorded on the first day of Eid al-Adha in Sarıcakaya district, which has microclimate characteristics.
THERMOMETERS REACHED 46 DEGREES ON THE HOLIDAY
The rising temperature during the day in the district was reflected as 46 degrees on digital signs. The Sarıcakaya district, where temperatures increased so much, was also captured from the air by a drone.
During the midday hours when the temperature reached its highest level, human activity on the streets and avenues in the district center decreased. It was observed that citizens preferred closed and shaded areas instead of open spaces.
