The famous ice cream brand Magnum has been put up for sale. Unilever will separate its ice cream unit, which includes Algida and Magnum, and will establish it as an independent company under the name The Magnum Ice Cream Company; the process will be completed on July 1st.
Global food producer Unilever has made a sales decision for Magnum, a brand of ice cream under Algida. According to the decision made in the company's downsizing plan announced last year, Unilever plans to separate the world-famous ice cream brand Magnum into a separate company and exit the ice cream business.
According to news from the World of Bosses; the company, which laid off 6,000 employees as part of the downsizing plan announced last year, is preparing to lay off another 1,500 people this year. Before the restructuring, Unilever had approximately 6,000 employees in the UK and 128,000 employees worldwide.
UNILEVER SAYS GOODBYE TO ICE CREAM
Unilever announced that it is continuing its efforts to separate and list the Ben & Jerry's and Magnum ice cream divisions by the end of this year, and that it will operate as an independent business starting from July 1. The primary listing of the business will be in Amsterdam, with secondary listings in London and New York. Recently appointed Unilever CEO Fernando Fernandez commented on these decisions, stating, "The increasing global macroeconomic uncertainty is a reality; however, the quality of our innovation program, the strong investment behind our brands, and our increasing competitiveness give us confidence that we will achieve our full-year plans." The company, whose shares have appreciated by 25% in the last year, is expected to have its majority shares acquired by international investment funds.
