8 OF OUR SOLDIERS MARTYRED DUE TO METHANE GAS

The Ministry of National Defense (MSB) announced that 19 soldiers were exposed to methane gas in a cave during the search for the remains of Infantry Lieutenant Nuri Melih Bozkurt, who was martyred as a result of fire opened by terrorists during cave search-cleaning operations on May 28, 2022.

MINISTRY REVEALED THE DETAILS OF THE INCIDENT

Furthermore, the ministry's statement included details of the incident. In the statement made by the MSB, the following was stated: "During the cave search-cleaning operation carried out on May 28, 2022, as part of the Pençe-Kilit Operation, Infantry Lieutenant Nuri Melih Bozkurt was martyred due to fire opened by terrorists, and his remains could not be reached due to intense fire. The area has been secured, and the terrorists have been neutralized, but despite all searches, the remains of our martyr have not yet been reached.

In the search operations, all areas where the remains could be found are being meticulously searched by specially organized teams. As part of the ongoing search activities; on July 6, 2025, during the search operation in a cave located on a hill at an altitude of 852 meters, which is known to have been previously used as a hospital and has been cleared of terrorists, 19 of our personnel were exposed to methane gas and were immediately evacuated to the hospital; despite all interventions, five of our heroic personnel were martyred."

NEWS OF 3 SOLDIERS MARTYRED CAME IN THE MORNING

In the morning hours, the MSB reported that 3 more soldiers who were being treated in the hospital had been martyred, raising the number of martyrs to 8.

In a statement made from the MSB's social media account, the following was noted:

"On July 6, 2025, during the search operation carried out in a cave used by members of the separatist terrorist organization on the 852-meter-high hill in the Pençe-Kilit Operation area, three more of our heroic comrades affected by methane gas have been martyred, raising the number of personnel martyred to eight. We wish God's mercy upon the noble martyrs who lost their lives in this incident that has caused us deep pain and sorrow, and we extend our condolences and patience to their grieving families, the Turkish Armed Forces, and our noble nation, and we wish a speedy recovery to those affected."
