The Iranian army announced that it has activated a ballistic missile named "Sejjil" in response to attacks from the US and Israel. The Sejjil missile, which takes its name from the Elephant Incident in Islamic history and means "baked clay," has emerged as a step that amplifies the military and symbolic dimensions of the conflict.
The comprehensive operation initiated by the US and Israel against Iran has expanded the conflict in the region. While Iran announced that it targeted approximately 10 US bases in the morning hours, explosion sounds were heard in many capitals.
IRAN'S SECCIL MISSILE
The Iranian army announced that it launched Seccil missiles at enemy targets. The name of the missile refers to the defeat of the army of Abraha, which came to destroy the Kaaba, by the stones carried by the birds of Ababil, meaning "baked clay."
HIGH EXPLOSIVE POWER
Seccil has the capacity to carry a warhead weighing 650 kilograms, which is considered a significant destructive power for medium-range ground-to-ground missiles. The missile's solid fuel technology not only extends its storage life but also provides a much faster response time compared to liquid-fueled missiles.
HEZBOLLAH EXPRESSES SOLIDARITY WITH IRAN
Lebanon's Hezbollah issued a message of solidarity with Iran against the US and Israeli attack. Hezbollah did not provide information on whether it would participate in attacks against Israel. Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam indirectly sent a message to Hezbollah, stating that he would not accept the country being dragged into adventures that threaten its security and unity. Israel had warned that "if Hezbollah becomes involved, we will strike Lebanon" in the context of Iran's intervention.
THEY SPOKE ON THE PHONE
It was announced that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and US President Donald Trump had a phone conversation. The Israeli Prime Minister's office confirmed the meeting, stating that Iran had begun its 11th missile attack. It was also reported that the number of children killed in an elementary school hit by an Israeli attack during the day had risen to 85. Iranian President Pezeshkian described the school attack as "barbaric." Additionally, it was announced that the Iranian Revolutionary Guards had announced via radio that no ships would pass through the Strait of Hormuz.
ISRAEL: WE HAVE NEUTRALIZED SEVERAL IRANIAN OFFICIALS
Israeli military officials announced that several Iranian officials had been neutralized in the attacks. However, the Israeli side did not share the names of those neutralized. It was also reported that Israel had conducted attacks on missile launch pads in Iran by the evening. The Israeli Army also stated that it had shot down aircraft that took off from Iran.
