Lawyer Fırat Epözdemir, a member of the Istanbul Bar Association's Board of Directors, was detained at Istanbul Airport and arrested on charges of 'making propaganda for a terrorist organization' and 'being a member of an armed terrorist organization.'
Member of the Istanbul Bar Association, Lawyer Fırat Epözdemir, was detained at Istanbul Airport upon his return from the European Council Defenders meeting he attended in Strasbourg.
While Epözdemir was detained on the plane, a search was conducted at his office, and a ban on attorney-client meetings was imposed for 24 hours. After his procedures at the police station, Epözdemir was transferred to the Istanbul Courthouse in Çağlayan, where he gave a statement to the prosecutor.
HE WAS ARRESTED
The prosecutor's office referred lawyer Fırat Epözdemir to the peace criminal court for his arrest on charges of "Making propaganda for a terrorist organization" and "Being a member of an armed terrorist organization," and the court decided to arrest him.
