The Istanbul Governorship announced the measures taken for New Year's Eve. In Istanbul, where 60,000 personnel will be on duty, some roads in the districts of Kadıköy, Beyoğlu, Şişli, and Beşiktaş will be closed starting from 2:00 PM. Here are the details of the decision...

Measures taken for New Year's Eve in the megacity of Istanbul were shared with the public through a written statement from the Governorship. In this context, many roads will be closed to traffic, and alternative routes have been determined. On New Year's Eve, 60,000 police officers will be on duty in Istanbul.

The statement from the Istanbul Governorship is as follows:

- All necessary measures have been taken for our Istanbul to welcome the year 2025 in peace. On Tuesday, December 31, 2024, security measures will be implemented at the highest level throughout the city, especially in areas where our citizens are expected to gather in large numbers.

- Our police, gendarmerie, and coast guard units will be on duty with a total of 60,068 personnel to ensure that our citizens can welcome the year 2025 in peace. All necessary measures have been taken for our Istanbul to welcome the year 2025 in peace.

- On Tuesday, December 31, 2024, security measures will be implemented at the highest level throughout the city, especially in areas where our citizens are expected to gather in large numbers. Our police, gendarmerie, and coast guard units will be on duty with a total of 60,068 personnel to ensure that our citizens can welcome the year 2025 in peace.

- Additionally, efforts to combat illegal immigration carried out with Mobile Migration Vehicles will continue uninterrupted during the New Year.

- As part of the New Year's measures, the entry of heavy vehicles such as trucks, trailers, concrete mixers, etc., into the districts of Sarıyer, Şişli, Beşiktaş, Beyoğlu, Fatih, Bakırköy, Zeytinburnu, and Kadıköy has been prohibited from 08:00 on December 31, 2024, until 08:00 on January 1, 2025.

Moreover, on December 31, our teams from the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry will conduct food inspections to ensure food safety for our citizens, while teams from 112 and the Provincial Health Directorate will be available to ensure that our citizens can access health services as quickly as possible. Teams from the Provincial Directorate of Commerce will work to prevent potential grievances that our citizens may experience due to exorbitant prices.

Inspection teams will monitor unregistered rentals in daily rented houses and hotels, support service teams will be ready for potential phone, internet, and natural gas outages, and our Fire Department, Municipal Police, and AFAD teams will be on duty to intervene in any adverse situations that may arise.

As part of the New Year's measures;

ISTANBUL POLICE DEPARTMENT - 1016 Points - 10,498 total teams (8731 teams + 1767 traffic teams) - 4 Helicopters, - 7 Detector dogs, - 10 Sea Boats, - 55,225 Personnel,

PROVINCIAL GENDARMERIE COMMAND 713 teams, 724 vehicles, 4,530 personnel, COAST GUARD COMMAND 33 units at 25 points with 313 personnel will serve the people of Istanbul.

CLOSING DATE: NIGHT OF 31.12.2024 - 01.01.2025

In Beyoğlu/İstiklal Street: 16 Streets/12 Streets (As of 14:00) In Şişli District: 3 Streets/4 Streets; (As of 14:00) In Beşiktaş District: 1 Street/3 Streets (As of 14:00) will be closed to vehicle traffic.

BEYOĞLU DISTRICT (CLOSING TIME: 14:00)

İstiklal Street and all streets and avenues leading to this street will be closed to traffic.

Takı Zafer Street will be closed to traffic.

Sıraselviler Street will be closed to traffic from the intersection of Hocazade Street towards Taksim Square.

Asmalı Mescit Street will be closed to traffic.

Dünya Sağlık Street will be closed to traffic.

Osmanlı Street will be closed to traffic.

On Tarlabaşı Boulevard, the entrances of Zambak Street, Atıf Yılmaz Street (Sakızağacı Taxi Stand), and Balo Street will be closed to traffic.

The direction from Yeni Çarşı Street, Turnacıbaşı Street, Meşelik Street, and Sadri Alışık Street to İstiklal Street will be closed.

Aslan Yatağı Street leading to Sıraselviler Street will be closed to traffic.

Hamalbaşı Street will be closed to traffic from the intersection of Ömer Hayyam Street.

Meşrutiyet Street will be closed to traffic from the intersection of Karayel Street towards Hamalbaşı Street.

İlk Belediye Street will be closed to traffic.

Ensiz Street will be closed to traffic.

Kumbaracı Yokuşu will be closed to traffic.

Postacılar Street will be closed to traffic.

Yeniçarşı Street will be closed to traffic from the intersection of Hayriye Street.
