It was revealed that Sinan Eleş, who approached elderly people struggling to withdraw money from ATMs in Adana under the pretext of helping them, stole a total of 37 thousand liras from 4 individuals through sleight of hand. The suspect, identified through security cameras, was determined to have also stolen approximately 100 thousand liras in jewelry and money presented to brides and grooms at two weddings he attended as if invited in 2025.
A suspect, approaching elderly people struggling to withdraw money from ATMs in Adana under the pretext of helping them, stole a total of 37 thousand liras from 4 people. It was revealed that the suspect had previously stolen money gifted to brides and grooms at weddings he attended as if invited.
HE TARGETED THE ELDERLY
The incident occurred in the PTT Evleri neighborhood of Yüreğir district. Retiree Erdoğan K. accepted Sinan Eleş's offer of help while going to an ATM to withdraw his salary.
The suspect, who withdrew money from the ATM, swiftly separated 7 thousand liras of the cash and put it in his pocket. He handed the remaining money to the elderly man and left the area.
SECURITY CAMERAS EXPOSED HIM
Realizing his money was missing when he returned home, Erdoğan K. filed a complaint with the police. In the investigation launched by the Theft and Pickpocketing Bureau teams, the suspect's identity was determined. The investigation revealed that Eleş had stolen approximately 30 thousand liras from 3 more people using the same method.
HE ALSO COMMITTED THEFT AT WEDDINGS
Police teams also uncovered that Sinan Eleş, in 2025, entered two weddings in the Sarıçam district as if invited and stole approximately 100 thousand liras gifted to the bride and groom during the jewelry ceremonies. It was learned that the suspect danced on the floor at weddings and even offered beverages to the bride and groom. It was stated that Eleş, who had been caught and arrested for this incident before, was released shortly ago.
"I NEEDED MONEY"
Sinan Eleş was caught in an operation at his home in the Sarıçam district and taken into custody. The stolen money was not found during a search of the house. Admitting his guilt in his statement at the police station, the suspect said, "I needed money, I stole it. I spent it to meet my needs."
HE WAS RE-ARRESTED
After his procedures at the police station, Sinan Eleş was referred to the courthouse and was arrested by the court he was brought before, then sent to prison.
