The event occurred on December 28 during the concert of the bachata group Aventura in the Dominican Republic. Cruz, who was invited on stage, greeted the group members and then hugged and kissed the lead singer, Romeo Santos. After that, Cruz sang "La Guerra" with the group and sat next to Santos to join the performance.

Cruz, who has 140,000 followers on TikTok, later wrote in a social media post that she deleted: "Realizing this dream came at a heavy price: the end of my 10-year marriage. I got carried away by excitement and emotions and couldn't think of my family. It was a moment I had dreamed of for a long time, but it ended my marriage."

Cruz apologized, stating that she respects her ex-husband's decision to divorce: "I never wanted to hurt you. Even if we separate, I hope to maintain peace and unity for our children."

Social media users generally supported Cruz. Her followers accused her ex-husband of being "insecure," while many stated that they too would have taken the opportunity to be on stage with Aventura.
