The land registry director M.D., who was detained on the grounds that Justice Minister Akın Gürlek improperly queried land registry records in the Çobanlar district of Afyonkarahisar, has been arrested. It has been learned that M.D. stated in his testimony that he conducted the land registry inquiry out of "curiosity."
It was determined that M.D., the District Land Registry Director of Çobanlar, Afyonkarahisar, queried the records of Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek on February 12, 2026, at 15:38. Following the irregular identification, M.D. was detained by teams affiliated with the Afyonkarahisar Provincial Police Department upon the instruction of the prosecutor's office. It was claimed that M.D. was in contact with the former CHP Afyonkarahisar Provincial Chairman Faruk Duha Erhan through a person named A.S. and that they met several times after the land registry inquiry.
ARRESTED After his procedures at the police station, M.D. was transferred to the courthouse early in the morning and was arrested by the magistrate's court on charges of "illegally obtaining personal data and abuse of office" following his interrogation at the prosecutor's office.
HE SAID "I DID IT OUT OF CURIOSITY" IN HIS STATEMENT It was learned that M.D. stated in his testimony that he conducted the land registry inquiry out of "curiosity." M.D. left the question of journalists asking 'why did you conduct the inquiry' unanswered as he exited the courthouse.
THE LAND REGISTRY TECHNICIAN CONFESSED EVERYTHING Diyar A., who was determined to have queried the land registry records of Minister Akın Gürlek at the Kaş Land Registry Office, was detained by the gendarmerie upon the instruction of the Kaş Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. The suspect stated in his testimony at the gendarmerie that he had been working as a land registry technician at the Kaş Land Registry Office for 3 years. Diyar A. noted that he was responsible for archiving, recording, and scanning the files that were processed and to be processed. Claiming that he had the authority to query land registry records, the suspect asserted that he only inquired about the land registry records of Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek when asked if he had queried the land registry records of individuals in managerial positions in the public sector.
Minister Gürlek said, "I have 4 properties." "AYŞEGÜL DECEIVED ME" During the inquiry, Diyar A. stated that he only saw 4 properties belonging to Minister Gürlek and said:
"Ayşegül K., whom I met and befriended through social media, deceived me during our conversation and asked me to query the land registry records of Minister Akın Gürlek. Thinking that our Minister was being slandered, I conducted the land registry inquiry. During these inquiries, due to the psychiatric medications I was using for my psychiatric issues, I involuntarily shared the results of the land registry inquiry with Ayşegül K. in a not very detailed manner during our conversation. I did this due to the person's coercive and persistent behavior. I conducted this inquiry in a moment of negligence. I believe that Ayşegül was the one who shared the inquiry results with other individuals. I later thought that this person was a member of a terrorist organization."
"SHE CLOSED HER SOCIAL MEDIA ACCOUNTS" Diyar A., who claimed that he did not share the land registry information with anyone else, said, "After I gave this information to the person named Ayşegül, she did not have any further discussions with me and closed her social media accounts. I could not contact her again."
THE TECHNICIAN WAS ALSO ARRESTED Diyar A., who claimed that he did not gain any benefit from the inquiries, asserted that his superiors or colleagues were not aware of the inquiries. It was determined that Diyar A. had received a warning penalty for negligence in 2024. He was arrested after the completion of his procedures.
On the other hand, it was revealed that Ayşegül K., with whom Diyar A. had contacted through social media, had a criminal record for "illegally obtaining personal data."
