The trial of the administrators and members of the Newborn Gang, who provided unfair profits by transferring babies to hospitals they had agreements with and caused their deaths through negligent behavior, continues on its third day. During the hearing, defense attorney Çağla Durmuş responded to a question about the destruction of medications by saying, "We were eliminating these medications because they were causing problems during inspections." Meanwhile, during a break in the hearing, a lawyer in the audience shouted at the defendant Dursun Eryılmaz, "You killed my child in 2020; I am his mother."

In the hearing held at the Bakırköy 22nd High Criminal Court, defendant Çağla Durmuş made her defense. In her defense, detained defendant Çağla Durmuş stated, "I am a nurse working at Medilife Hospital. I am not a member of any organization. I have not killed any patients. I did not act with the intent to defraud. I did not exhibit negligent behavior towards even one patient." The presiding judge asked the defendant about her statement regarding babies, "If I leave them, let them die." The defendant replied, "In that statement, I am talking about irregular monitor settings; I am not talking about killing a patient. I was expressing my concerns due to the material issues experienced at Bağcılar Medilife Hospital."

"I DID NOT SEE THAT TOO MUCH MEDICATION WAS TAKEN"

Continuing her defense, Durmuş stated, "I did not see that too much medication was taken to charge more money at the hospital I worked at. It was given to patients in need. We used medications for patients in need. There was no medication exit from the intensive care unit. The epicrisis did not match the patient's file." The presiding judge then asked the defendant, "Aren't you a nurse? Why wasn't it compatible, why weren't you writing it correctly?" The defendant answered, "These procedures were carried out by nurses coming from outside."

In the continuation of her defense, the defendant stated, "Gıyasettin was sending us patients, but I do not know his duties or what he did. I knew he was responsible for patient transfers. Until the last inspection, I had never seen such a detailed inspection. Normally, we were not inspected this much. Decisions were made by doctors at the steps, but nurses were writing. The epicrisis should have been written by Dursun Eryılmaz, but he was not writing it; he was accumulating it, he didn't even know how to use a computer properly."

The presiding judge asked the defendant, "You said, 'Let Dursun be ex before he leaves.'" The defendant replied, "All interventions for the patient were done and completed here. I mentioned this in that statement. I had no other intention. I stated the patient's condition."

Çağla Durmuş responded to the question about the destruction of medications by saying, "Özge nurse, I am the responsible nurse. We were eliminating these medications because they were causing problems during inspections." The defendant concluded her defense with the statement, "I applied what my duty required; I did not do anything wrong."
