The long-running series 'Şakir Paşa Ailesi' is coming to an end. In a statement regarding the matter, one of the lead actors, Cem Yiğit Üzümoğlu, said, "Unfortunately, this is how it ended. Fires can be overcome. But the loss of a friend’s life has become the final point for all of us, and the decision to end the show was made."
Fires on the set, the death of a crew member, RTÜK fines, and lawsuits filed by Şakir Paşa's grandchildren have led journalist Birsen Altuntaş to announce recently that the season finale has been moved up.
NOT A SEASON FINALE, BUT A FINAL
It was stated that 'Şakir Paşa Ailesi' would take a break in the 15th episode after the decision was made to have a season finale one episode early. While the fans of the series were expecting a season finale, the lead actor Cem Yiğit Üzümoğlu brought the news of the final.
'CEVAT ŞAKİR' CONFIRMED
In an interview with T24, the actor shared the events related to the series, stating, "A final decision has been made for Şakir Paşa Ailesi. It was a series that started with great hopes but faced many misfortunes. What kind of experience do you have left from this job?" Cem Yiğit Üzümoğlu, who plays the character 'Cevat Şakir', announced the final with his response.
"A DECISION TO END HAS BEEN MADE"
Üzümoğlu, who said, "We were telling a wonderful story with amazing people," added, "The actors, writers, directors, and producers; we were with professionals and good people in every sense. Unfortunately, it faced many misfortunes and, sadly, moral consciousness got in the way. However, it was a true story. And I think - let's overlook the moral issues within the family - it was a work that could be exemplary. We were telling the story of a family from which such important female artists emerged in a geography where an empire ended and a republic was born. Hande Altaylı is a wonderful writer. Unfortunately, it ended this way. Fires can be overcome. But the loss of a friend’s life became the final point for all of us, and a decision to end was made," he stated.
Last month, production manager Serkan Sükyan died in a fire that broke out on the set of the series.
