The net minimum wage for 2024 has been set at 17,002, while the lack of interim raises has caused the wages to erode against inflation. As the month of December approaches, when the new minimum wage will be determined, statements regarding the minimum wage continue to come from the opposition. ADDRESSING WORKERS WHOSE SALARY EXPECTATIONS HAVE NOT BEEN METThe minimum wage increase for 2025 is also a key agenda item for CHP leader Özgür Özel. Visiting striking workers at the Yolbulan Metal Factory in Dörtyol, Hatay, CHP Chairman Özgür Özel addressed the workers whose salary expectations have not been met. Describing the 17,000 TL minimum wage in Turkey as a 'starvation wage,' Özel stated, "Those who said 'We will raise this wage four times' last year left it at 17,000 without even making the second raise when they came to power." Continuing his statements regarding the minimum wage, Özel addressed the workers, saying, "If you had received what you deserved and the salary given to you on the day this contract was signed had received the raise it deserved, it would have been 25,000 TL. Then you would have been receiving a base salary of over 30,000 TL without going on strike." "THOSE WHO GOVERN THE COUNTRY ARE THE ONES WHO EAT YOUR ACTUAL RIGHTS"Providing a figure for the minimum wage in 2025, the CHP leader stated; "The local boss who eats your rights is the owner of this company, Yolbulan; but those who truly eat your rights are those who govern the country; those who do not raise the 17,000 TL to 25,000 TL, those who do not increase the minimum wage according to the cost of living and inflation. We stand with Yolbulan workers and the working class struggle in Turkey."
