The leader of the CHP, Özgür Özel, stated that they would not recognize the appointment of former party leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu or any other name as a trustee for the party's presidency. He said, "In the end, they have to hold a congress. They cannot stay there. The organization will not allow them to remain. The CHP's genetics does not permit this."
CHP General Chairman Özgür Özel, in his statements to detained journalist Fatih Altaylı, evaluated the allegations of trusteeship against the party, possible arrest scenarios, and rumors of a new party.
"WE WILL NOT RECOGNIZE KILIÇDAROĞLU"
Özel stated that they would not allow the appointment of former General Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu or any other name as a trustee to the CHP General Chairmanship by court decision, saying, "We will not recognize it. Our 81 provincial heads will not recognize it either. We will protect the backbone here and continue. Ultimately, they have to hold a congress. They cannot stay there. The organization will not keep them there. The CHP's genetics does not allow this," he expressed.
"I CANNOT DISAPPOINT THEM"
In response to a question about the possibility of his immunity being lifted and the risk of arrest, Özel stated that they would not leave the squares empty, saying, "I know they can do all kinds of evil. They say, 'Leave Ekrem İmamoğlu, stop the rallies, just do opposition.' If I accepted this, there would be no problem, but I cannot. The citizens trusted us, the youth believed in us. I cannot disappoint them. Instead of destroying their dreams, we will pay any price," he said.
NEW PARTY ALLEGATIONS
Rejecting allegations that a new party would be established if they were removed from office, the CHP leader stated, "This is out of the question. This is CHP; it is not just any party. We cannot be divided, we will not be divided. The division of CHP is the division of Turkey; we will not be divided. We will fight until the end," he said.
