The 1969 model guitar was used in albums released by Pink Floyd between 1970 and 1983. Gilmour performed with this guitar in iconic albums that have gone down in music history, such as The Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, and The Wall.

BIDS WERE PLACED FOR 21 MINUTES

According to CNN, the guitar was bid on for 21 minutes at a rock memorabilia auction held in New York. At the end of the auction, the guitar was purchased for $14.6 million by an anonymous collector.

MADE HISTORY WITH ITS SALE PRICE

Christie’s auction house expected the guitar to fetch between $2 million and $4 million before the sale. However, due to the intense interest, the guitar sold for a price far exceeding that estimate. Another guitar belonging to Cobain also drew attention at the same auction. The blue Fender Mustang guitar used in the "Smells Like Teen Spirit" music video was sold for $6.9 million.
