In Burdur, 82-year-old Saim Nas was found dead at home with part of his body burned. Initial findings suggest that he ignited the couch with a cigarette while experiencing a heart attack. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
The relatives of 82-year-old Saim Nas, who lived alone in a two-story detached house, requested the neighbors to check the house after they could not reach him. The neighbors, who entered by opening the door, found Nas motionless with part of his body burned, still sitting in his armchair.
HEALTH TEAMS FOUND HIM DEAD
After the situation was reported to the 112 Emergency Call Center, health, fire, and police teams were dispatched to the scene. During the examination conducted by the health teams, it was determined that Saim Nas had passed away.
THE CIGARETTE IN HIS HAND IGNITED THE ARMCHAIR
After the examinations conducted by the crime scene investigation teams and the public prosecutor, the elderly man's body was taken to the Burdur State Hospital morgue for an autopsy. According to initial assessments, it is believed that Saim Nas's cigarette ignited the armchair after he suffered a heart attack while sitting, and that the fire started in this manner. An investigation has been initiated regarding the incident.
