The Turkish Football Federation has announced the foreign player rule that will be implemented in the 2025-2026 season of the Trendyol Super League. Super League clubs will be allowed to have 14 foreign players in their squads next season. While there are no criteria for 12 of these players, at least 2 of them must be born on or after January 1, 2003.
An announcement regarding the foreign player rule to be applied in the 2025-2026 season of the Trendyol Super League has been published on the website of the Turkish Football Federation.
The TFF's statement is as follows;
"(1) Clubs can have a maximum of 14 players who do not qualify to play for the Turkey National Football Team ("foreign players") in their A Team List.
For the 14 foreign players that can be registered in the A Team List, there is no age criterion for 12 of them. If 14 foreign players are registered in the A Team List, at least 2 of these players must be born on or after 01.01.2003 during the 2025-2026 season. The non-utilization of part or all of the right to register 14 foreign players does not prevent the number of players eligible to play for the Turkey National Football Team from being exceeded.
In the 2026-2027 season, at least 4 of the 14 foreign players must be born on or after 01.01.2004.
(2) Super League Clubs with contracts for more than 14 foreign players cannot field foreign players who are not registered in the A Team List in A Team matches.
(3) In addition to the players registered in the A Team List who do not qualify to play for the Turkey National Football Team as stipulated in the first paragraph; in the 2023-2024 season, they can register 1 player who is a citizen of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan in the A Team List, and 1 player who does not qualify to play for the Turkey National Football Team but holds Turkish citizenship or a blue card, due to their acquired rights until the end of their contract as per Article 2, paragraph e. If these players' contracts expire; extensions, contract renewals, and contracts they will sign with other clubs will be registered under the category of players who do not qualify to play for the National Team and will be recorded in the A Team List accordingly.
(4) Clubs can field registered professional footballers who are born on or after 01.01.2005 and qualify to play for the Turkey National Football Team in matches without the obligation to register them in the A Team List. Provided that these players have been registered with their club for the last 6 months and have completed 15 years of age, there is no requirement for them to be professional footballers."
