The Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources granted oil exploration licenses for a total of 3 areas: two in Hatay and one field covering Adana, Osmaniye, and Hatay. According to the decision published in the Official Gazette, the licenses will be valid for 5 years. With the new licenses, oil exploration activities in the region are expected to accelerate in the coming period.
The decisions of the General Directorate of Mining and Petroleum Affairs (MAPEG) of the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources regarding oil exploration licenses were published in the Official Gazette and entered into force.
Within the scope of the decision, the applications made by Arar Petrol AŞ were evaluated, and it was decided to grant the company oil exploration licenses in three separate regions.
EXPLORATION WILL BE CARRIED OUT IN 3 SEPARATE REGIONS
According to MAPEG's decision, Arar Petrol AŞ was granted permission for oil exploration in a total of three regions, including two separate fields in Hatay and one field covering the provinces of Adana, Osmaniye, and Hatay. Thus, the company will have the right to conduct oil exploration activities in the designated fields.
LICENSES WILL BE VALID FOR 5 YEARS
According to the decision published in the Official Gazette, the granted oil exploration licenses will be valid for a period of 5 years.
The company is expected to carry out exploration activities in the licensed fields within this period.
EXPLORATION ACTIVITIES WILL BE CONDUCTED IN LARGE AREAS
Within the scope of the decision, oil exploration activities will be carried out in two separate fields in Hatay, covering 25,550 hectares and 62,336 hectares, as well as an area of 57,230 hectares covering the provinces of Adana, Osmaniye, and Hatay.
In total, more than 145 thousand hectares of area have been opened for oil exploration activities.

Experts assess that the new oil exploration licenses are an important step in strengthening Turkey's energy supply security and bringing domestic energy resources into the economy.
With the new licenses granted, oil exploration activities in the region are expected to accelerate in the coming period.
