The allegations that Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) President Erhan Çetinkaya was dismissed before his term ended have caused public outrage. In a statement issued by the Ministry of Treasury and Finance, reacting to reports published in some media outlets, it was stated that "The term of former TÜİK President Mr. Erhan Çetinkaya ended in January, and he continued his duties in an acting capacity until a new appointment was made."
The Ministry of Treasury and Finance reacted to claims that the President of the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) was dismissed before the end of his term, stating that deliberate disinformation was made and that all legal rights will be exercised regarding attempts to publicly spread false information.
ATTENTION DRAWN TO NEWS
In a statement from the Ministry, attention was drawn to reports in some press and media outlets. The statement included the following: "Today, it has been observed that some newspapers, with the same headlines, shared false information such as 'The bill was charged to TÜİK' and 'TÜİK President was dismissed before the end of his term,' clearly and deliberately engaging in disinformation."
"TERM EXPIRED IN JANUARY"
Emphasizing that false information was publicly given, the statement noted: "As is known, the term of former TÜİK President Mr. Erhan Çetinkaya ended in January, and he continued his duties as acting until a new appointment was made. In this context, all legal rights will be exercised regarding attempts to publicly and deliberately spread false information with forced interpretations and intent, by claiming he was dismissed while no appointment had been made."
MEHMET ARABACI APPOINTED AS REPLACEMENT
Mehmet Arabacı, Deputy Head of the Revenue Administration, was appointed as the President of TÜİK with a decision published in yesterday's issue of the Official Gazette.
