New footage has emerged regarding the life-or-death situation on the ship that capsized yesterday off the coast of Girne Port in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. While the moments of the ship listing and sinking were captured on a passenger's mobile phone camera, people were seen screaming for help.
Eight people lost their lives, 18 are missing, and 241 people were rescued alive as a result of the sinking of a passenger ship off the coast of Girne in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).
THEY SCREAMED FOR HELP
New footage related to the disaster has emerged. In the images captured by a passenger's mobile phone camera, the ship was seen listing to its side. Additionally, passengers who climbed onto the capsized ship were seen screaming for help.
THE SHIP DISASTER IN GIRNE
The high-speed passenger sea bus named "Filo Jet," operating on the route between Girne Port in the TRNC and Taşucu Port in Mersin, began taking on water from its bow shortly after departing from Girne at noon yesterday.
While attempting to return to Girne Port, the ship capsized. Of the 267 people on board, including 259 passengers and 8 crew members, 241 were rescued, while 8 lost their lives. Search and rescue efforts continue for the 18 missing individuals.
