In the election held after the dismissal of arrested Mayor Hüseyin Can Güner from the Çankaya Municipal Council, Haldun Güler was elected as the acting mayor.
COUNCIL CONVENED FOR THE ELECTION OF THE ACTING MAYOR
The Çankaya Municipal Council convened for the election of an acting mayor following the dismissal of Mayor Güner, who was arrested on charges of "forming a criminal organization," "bribery," and "fraud in public tender" as part of an investigation conducted by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
During the meeting held at the municipal building under the chairmanship of Veli Şahin, the 1st Deputy Speaker of the Council, Fevzi Gümüş and Haldun Güler ran for the position of acting mayor.
RESULTS FINALIZED IN THE SECOND ROUND
In the first round of the two-round election, Haldun Güler received 30 votes, Fevzi Gümüş received 6 votes. Five people cast blank votes, and two votes were considered invalid. In the second round, Haldun Güler received 37 votes, Fevzi Gümüş received 2 votes. In this round, three people cast blank votes, and one vote was deemed invalid. Thus, Haldun Güler became the Acting Mayor of Çankaya Municipality.

In his speech after the election, Güler said, "We will continue all the services initiated by our mayor Hüseyin Can Güner without interruption, with a transparent management approach, until justice is served and our mayor returns to his duty. We will continue to provide our workers with their rights at the highest standards."
