In Gaziantep, following an accident that killed one person, the fleeing driver was identified by gendarmerie teams who examined 2,000 vehicles based on broken headlight fragments. The suspect, who was preparing to flee abroad, was caught and arrested.
In the Şehitkamil district of Gaziantep, an operation was launched by the gendarmerie under the coordination of the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office to capture the driver who fled after an accident last week that killed one person.
2 THOUSAND VEHICLES EXAMINED, TRACKED FOR 7 DAYS
Following an examination of headlight fragments found at the accident scene by teams from the Gendarmerie Criminal Branch Directorate, the make and model of the vehicle involved in the accident on the Gaziantep-Nurdağı highway were identified. JASAT and Cyber Crime teams analyzed records from the Urban Security Management System (KGYS), License Plate Recognition System (PTS), and Electronic Inspection System (EDS) in the region, examining approximately 2 thousand vehicles. After a 7-day technical and physical surveillance, the vehicle was found hidden in a warehouse in the Sakcagözü neighborhood of Nurdağı district.
CAUGHT WHILE PREPARING TO FLEE ABROAD
It was determined that the car driver, Ö.T., attempted to conceal evidence after the accident and was preparing to flee abroad. Ö.T., taken into custody by the gendarmerie, was arrested by the court to which he was referred.
