Thousands of people living in Venezia Mega Residance, located in the Karadeniz neighborhood of Gaziosmanpaşa district in Istanbul, are in a major revolt. In the approximately 2000-unit site, it is claimed that a group has been in power for 8 years through fraudulent elections. In addition to high maintenance fees and funds collected under the guise of an investment budget, residents are also complaining about not receiving services.

"HALF OF THE BALLOTS WERE FILLED BEFORE THE ELECTION STARTED"

Residents claimed that property owners were excluded from the elections and when they came to vote later, half of the ballots were already filled before the election started. Additionally, it was alleged that people brought in from outside were allowed to vote and signatures were forged.

CHAOS IN THE MANAGEMENT ELECTION

Chaos occurred during the site management elections held today. Tayfun Gönültaş, one of the residents, was prevented from voting by the current management. Police teams, who were alerted to the scene, intervened in the situation. Gönültaş was taken into custody by the teams, and it was learned that both parties filed complaints against each other.

"THEY DON'T WANT TO LEAVE BECAUSE THE PROFIT IS HUGE"

Bayram Kocamer, who has an office in the site and represents the residents, stated, "They don't want to leave for 8 years because the profit is huge. If they have been in power for 8 years, it means they have expectations."

"THE PLACE IS INFESTED WITH RATS"

Kocamer, noting that the maintenance fees are very high, said, "We pay 5-10 thousand lira in maintenance fees. The fees are very high. There is no accountability. General assembly meetings are not held. They act according to their own interests. They collected 20 thousand lira under the guise of an investment budget. They received a total of 40 million lira. However, we have not received any services in return for this money. There is garbage in the site, and it is infested with rats."

"WE WANT A TRUSTEE TO BE APPOINTED"

Kocamer, who stated that property owners were not allowed to vote in the last elections, said, "We want the authorities to get involved in the matter and for a trustee to be appointed to the site."

"THEY ATTACKED US"

Özkan Gürdalı, a candidate for the site management, stated, "They did not let us be elected. They attacked us. They declared themselves the council without establishing a council presidency. We have not been able to get rid of them for 8 years. We are victims."

"THEY DEMAND HUGE AMOUNTS OF MONEY AND COLLECT IT THROUGH ENFORCEMENT"

Gürdalı, who stated that they have taken over the site management through illegal means, said, "They demand huge amounts of money. They forcibly collect this money from us through enforcement. Audit reports are not published. Our added value is decreasing. Rats and cockroaches are rampant in the site."

Property owners continue to protest the situation by gathering in front of the site and chanting "Management resign." Meanwhile, the previous election was annulled by a court decision due to the frauds that took place.
