The new chairman of the Democratic Party has been announced.

The 15th Ordinary Grand Congress of the Democratic Party was held in a hotel in Ankara with the slogan "The word is once again with the nation." After the quorum was established, the election for the Chairmanship of the Board was conducted.

After a moment of silence and the reading of the National Anthem, the General Chairman Gültekin Uysal stated that they do politics not for themselves, but for 86 million people. Uysal criticized the statements made by MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli at the TBMM Group Meeting.

"WE WILL FIGHT UNTIL THE LAST DROP OF OUR BLOOD"

Uysal, who stated that the newly graduated lieutenants were referred to disciplinary action due to images reflected on social media after the Sancak Transfer Ceremony and Graduation Ceremony of the Land Forces Academy, said, "You will expel the young lieutenants who graduated from Harbiye, including the first one, who say 'We are soldiers of Mustafa Kemal,' and you will send the bloody murderer Öcalan to the Parliament. We will fight against this until the last drop of our blood."

Uysal expressed that they brought their party to the brink of becoming a coalition partner, stating, "I declare today that in the upcoming elections, we will rise in front of the nation as the Democratic Party with our own name and emblem. We have no other way."

DEBATE ON "CANDIDACY" IN THE CONGRESS

On the other hand, the candidacy of İlay Aksoy, who collected signatures for the general chairmanship, was not accepted due to some delegates withdrawing their signatures and some signatures being deemed invalid. During this time, a debate occurred in the hall. Aksoy reacted to the decision, saying, "You staged a coup against your own party today. You put a mortgage on the will of so many people."

UYSAL WAS REELECTED AS CHAIRMAN

After the debate, the voting process began. Gültekin Uysal, who entered the election as the sole candidate, was reelected as General Chairman by receiving the votes of 765 out of 778 delegates who voted in the congress, while 13 votes were deemed invalid.
