It has been revealed that a note secretly given to Ekrem İmamoğlu in court during the organized crime syndicate case was later forgotten in the courtroom. The note stated, "Dear Mr. President, a new investigation has been initiated against the public official for insults and threats due to their duties after the hearing." A detail related to Dilek İmamoğlu drew attention.
"Imamoğlu is related to a 'criminal organization for profit' case where 407 defendants, including 107 detained and 5 complainant defendants, are being tried. The public prosecutor requested the release of 7 detained defendants and the continuation of the detention of the other 100 detained defendants.
NOTE SENT TO İMAMOĞLU: A NEW INVESTIGATION HAS BEEN INITIATED
A note given to Ekrem İmamoğlu marked the hearing. The note included the following statements: "Dear Chairman, a new investigation has been initiated against a public official for insults and threats due to their duty after the hearing.
“IT WAS INTERPRETED ON SOCIAL MEDIA AS 'REFERENCING MRS. DİLEK'”
Your statement during the hearing, 'This country will have a female president, hopefully very soon,' was interpreted on social media as 'referencing Mrs. Dilek,' dear Chairman."
During the hearing held in the hall opposite the Marmara Closed Prison by the 40th Heavy Penal Court of Istanbul, the court president Selçuk Aylan stated that after closing the session yesterday, a note was brought to him, which was left by the lawyers, and since the note started with "Dear Chairman," it was delivered to him.
A WARNING FROM THE COURT PRESIDENT
President Aylan reminded that they had previously warned about the note, saying, "There is an exchange of defense with the defendants. In this sense, we constantly receive complaints from the gendarmerie. As far as I understand, no one is claiming the note. I did not want to read the content of the note, but since there are expressions like 'presidential candidacy' and 'Mrs. Dilek,' I thought it was related to Mr. Ekrem. Since the note started with 'Dear Chairman,' the responsible friends thought it was left for me and brought it. You can appreciate that we have an allegation of 'organization,' and such note exchanges should be subject to the supervision we deem appropriate. So I wanted to warn you in this regard as well. If no one claims it, then let it stay with us. We should not become intermediaries in this note exchange." he said.
In response, defendant Ekrem İmamoğlu said that he could take the note. President Aylan also stated that there was no element constituting a crime, saying, "Someone wanted to convey this to you, we do not know the owner anymore, if they come, we will give it. We just wanted to warn if there is an owner of the note. This environment is not suitable for such exchanges. We would appreciate it if we could be more careful." he said.
