Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu announced current data on the number of UAVs and pilot licenses in Turkey. As of August 28, 2026, the number of vehicles in the UAV Registration System reached 94,230, while the number of licensed UAV pilots reached 1,845,456. Since the beginning of 2026 alone, 237,040 people have applied to become UAV pilots, and the number of applications increased by 367 percent compared to the same period last year.
There is record-level interest in UAV piloting. According to data announced by Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloglu, 237 thousand 40 people have applied to become UAV pilots since the beginning of 2026. The annual increase in applications was recorded as 367 percent.
APPLICATIONS INCREASED BY 367 PERCENT
Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloglu announced current figures regarding the studies carried out by the General Directorate of Civil Aviation (SHGM) on unmanned aerial vehicles and UAV piloting in Turkey.
Stating that interest in UAV piloting has increased significantly, Uraloglu said, "Since the beginning of 2026, 237 thousand 40 people have applied to become UAV pilots. Compared to the same period last year, the number of those who want to become UAV pilots increased by 367 percent."
NUMBER OF LICENSED UAV PILOTS EXCEEDS 1.8 MILLION
Minister Uraloglu also announced the total number of licensed UAV pilots across Turkey. As of August 28, 2026, the number of people holding UAV pilot licenses reached 1 million 845 thousand 456. Within the scope of the system carried out by the General Directorate of Civil Aviation, in addition to the registration procedures of UAVs, processes related to pilots are also monitored.
There was also an increase in the number of vehicles in the UAV Registration System. According to the information provided by Uraloglu, the number of registered UAVs in Turkey increased to 94 thousand 230.
