The Palestinians described the tortures of Israel.

The Palestinians described the tortures of Israel.

13.01.2025 00:50

The Palestine Liberation Organization and the Palestinian Prisoners Society announced that Palestinians held in Israeli prisons are subjected to systematic torture. The detainees reported that they are mistreated and severely beaten, and they also experience health issues.

The Palestinians held by Israel in Gaza have been subjected to systematic torture at the Neftali Camp and Negev Prison.

A joint statement from the Palestinian Prisoners Society and the Committee of Prisoners and Released Prisoners affiliated with the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) included testimonies from 23 Palestinians visited between January 6-8, 2025, at Negev Prison and Neftali (Nafha) Camp.

TESTIMONIES PRESENTED AS EVIDENCE

According to the statement, Palestinians in Israeli prisons reported that they were subjected to torture, ill-treatment, starvation, medical neglect, severe beatings, and pressure, and that a scabies outbreak had emerged among the prisoners. It was noted that the testimonies of detainees in most Israeli prisons and camps, especially Negev and Ofer, reflected the same level of systematic torture and brutality.

K.N., a 45-year-old detainee held since December 2023, stated, "Since I was taken captive, I have been severely beaten to extract confessions, resulting in fractures in my body. I was held for 58 days in a military camp near Gaza."

K.N. reported being constantly handcuffed and beaten, saying, "When I was transferred to Negev Prison, the guards poured hot water from an electric kettle on me, causing burns on my body, and the marks are still visible."

"I WAS CAPTURED WHILE WE WERE BEING FORCED TO MIGRATE"

A.H., a 21-year-old who stated he was captured in February 2024, said he was taken while they were being forced to migrate, taken to a camp near Gaza, where he stayed for 12 days, and then transferred to a camp in Jerusalem, followed by Ofer, and finally to Negev. A.H. noted that each transfer felt like a journey of torment and death, stating:

"As you can see today, I have boils, wounds, and holes on my body due to scabies. I sleep hungry and wake up hungry. I also have eye pressure issues that need to be monitored."

"WE ARE LIVING IN HELL"

Palestinian K.C. stated, "At the beginning of our captivity, we experienced hell; we did not know our fate or our legal status. Many prohibitions were imposed against us, along with accusations and abuses. Today, we are facing hunger; the amount of food is really very little and unsuitable for humans."

"I LOST MY ARTIFICIAL EYE DUE TO BEATINGS"

Another Palestinian, M.D., reported being held in a shelter with his family.

M.D. stated that he was taken to an area near the Gaza Strip border and, after staying there for 60 days, was transferred to Negev Prison, saying, "I lost my artificial eye due to severe beatings. As a result, there is now a void in my eye socket. Israeli soldiers did not stop there and took my glasses as well."

Since the heavy attacks by Israel on the Gaza Strip began on October 7, 2023, Israeli, Palestinian, and international human rights organizations have pointed to worsening conditions in Israeli prisons, documenting cases of torture, hunger, and the spread of diseases.
