Greece has deployed an MIM-104 Patriot missile battery to Karpas Peninsula due to Iran's threats against U.S. targets. Greece had previously sent two frigates and four F-16 fighter jets to the Greek Cypriot Administration for defense support.

It was reported that the Patriot air defense missile battery belonging to Greece has reached Kerpe Island. In news reports from the Greek press, it was claimed that Iran's threats against US targets necessitated the deployment of the Patriot air defense missile battery to Kerpe Island.

In the news, it was argued that this decision was made within the framework of the need to increase Greece's air defense capability due to the chaos in the Middle East, and it was claimed that the placement of the MIM-104 Patriot air defense missile battery on Kerpe Island, located between the islands of Crete and Rhodes, would contribute to the air defense capability of the southeastern Aegean.
