A bill containing penal provisions regarding firearms and unauthorized use of flashing lights, as well as regulations in the field of internal security, has been submitted to the Presidency of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM). Accordingly, those carrying unlicensed firearms may face imprisonment ranging from 2 to 4 years. Additionally, individuals who install unauthorized flashing lights and sirens on their vehicles will be subject to an administrative fine of 150,000 Turkish lira.
According to the proposal submitted to the Presidency of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, those who sell, carry, or facilitate the entry of main parts of weapons such as barrels, triggers, and firing mechanisms will also face imprisonment.
The minimum prison sentence of 1 year for those carrying and possessing unlicensed firearms will be increased to 2 years, and the maximum sentence of 3 years will be raised to 4 years. Thus, those carrying and possessing unlicensed firearms will face imprisonment ranging from 2 to 4 years.
In order to ensure deterrence in the unauthorized use of flashing and rooftop lights, administrative fines will be increased. Those who install flashing and rooftop lights on their vehicles will be fined 150,000 lira.
Additionally, the proposal includes regulations aimed at eliminating the differences between the administrative and working conditions of coast guard, gendarmerie, and police personnel.
