Galatasaray's star Lucas Torreira was subjected to a fist attack outside a venue in Istanbul. The detained assailant was arrested by the court.
Lucas Torreira, the Uruguayan football player of Galatasaray, was attacked with a punch by Yusuf Y. (32) in Beyoğlu. After the incident, Yusuf Y., who tried to flee, was taken into custody and referred to the courthouse. The attacker was arrested by the court.
PUNCH ATTACK ON TORREIRA
The incident occurred yesterday around 18:45 in a cafeteria inside a shopping mall located in Camiikebir Neighborhood. According to the information obtained, while the Uruguayan football player of Galatasaray, Lucas Torreira, was at the Padel game area, Yusuf Y. approached him. Allegedly, Y. attempted to hit Torreira in the nose with a punch at the top of the stairs. It was determined that after Torreira was struck, his driver Eray S. (39) punched Yusuf Y. in order to separate the parties. During Torreira's examination, redness was detected between his left eyebrow and eye.
CAUGHT IN A TAXI WHILE FLEEING
Upon the report, police teams were dispatched to the scene. It was determined that Yusuf Y., who tried to flee after the incident, boarded a taxi. The suspect was caught in the taxi and taken into custody by Beyoğlu District Police Department teams while trying to leave the mall. It was learned that Yusuf Y. has one criminal record for 'intentional injury'.
ATTACKER ARRESTED
After the procedures at the police station, the suspect Yusuf Y., who was referred to the courthouse, was arrested by the court on charges of 'intentional injury' and sent to prison.
PROSECUTOR'S STATEMENT REVEALED
It was learned that in his statement, Yusuf Y., who was taken into custody, said that he was in communication via social media with İpek B., and that Lucas Torreira was also interested in her, therefore he followed the football player on social media and came to the scene.
"I BEGAN TO HARBOR HATRED TOWARDS TORREIRA"
Yusuf Y.'s statement at the courthouse came to light. Yusuf Y. said, "I was platonically infatuated with İpek B., whom I knew as a photographer. İpek B. had previously obtained a restraining order against me because she was disturbed by me. I never violated this restraining order. However, seeing photos of İpek B. with the football player Lucas Torreira on the Instagram application about a year ago caused me to harbor hatred towards Torreira. The Twitter account you asked me about belongs to me. I also wrote the tweets posted on this account about Torreira. My reason for writing stems from my hatred of Torreira. Yesterday, upon learning from the posts of Torreira and his family on the Instagram application where they were, I went to the address in a taxi whose license plate I do not remember, with the intention of harming Torreira out of momentary anger. As soon as I saw Torreira, I punched him in the face once."
"İPEK IS MY GIRLFRIEND"
It was learned that in his statement to the police, Lucas Torreira said that İpek B. is his girlfriend, that he had previously obtained a 45-day restraining order against Yusuf Y. from the prosecutor's office, and that he filed a complaint against the suspect after the incident.
