On a Frontier Airlines flight from San Juan to Chicago, a major commotion and panic occurred in the cabin. During the flight, when a passenger attempted to open the emergency exit door, the cabin crew and other passengers acted swiftly. Due to the disruptive passenger who was subdued, the aircraft had to change its planned route and make an emergency landing in Miami.
PASSENGER HEADED FOR EMERGENCY EXIT DOOR
According to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), a serious security breach caused by a passenger occurred on Frontier Airlines flight 3345, which departed from San Juan, Puerto Rico, bound for Chicago. While the flight was in progress, an individual suddenly attempted to open the emergency exit door.
INTERVENTION WITH SHOUTS OF "TRYING TO OPEN THE DOOR!"
Video footage of the incident shows cabin crew and some passengers making intense efforts to restrain the individual in their seat. During the struggle, the person being pressed into the seat was seen resisting, shouting curses, and repeatedly yelling in English, "She's pushing the fucking door!" and "She's pinching me!" Nearby passengers were heard trying to stay calm and telling the person, "Chill out bro" and "You're not going to die."
RESTRAINED WITH PLASTIC CUFFS
Through the coordinated intervention of the cabin crew, the individual was subdued using plastic cuffs (zipties) that airlines keep for emergencies. The footage shows the person screaming in pain, claiming their hands were tied too tightly behind their back, prompting the cabin crew to reposition the cuffs to the front without compromising security.
AIRCRAFT MADE EMERGENCY LANDING IN MIAMI
Due to this dangerous security risk on the flight headed to Chicago O'Hare Airport, the flight crew declared an emergency. The route was changed, and the aircraft was diverted to Miami International Airport around midnight local time, landing safely. Federal authorities and aviation security teams waiting at the airport boarded the plane, took the individual into custody, and launched a comprehensive investigation into the incident. It was reported that no other passengers sustained physical harm as the investigation continues.
