The falling prices of anchovies in Edirne have enlivened the fish stalls. Citizens, hearing that the price per kilogram was 100 lira, lined up, and boxes full of anchovies quickly sold out. With the cold weather and the abundance of fish in the seas, the price of anchovies at fish sellers in Edirne has dropped to 100 lira per kilogram.
PRICE DROPPED TO 100 LIRA
Seeing the price drop, citizens formed long queues in front of fish sellers. Recently, the price of anchovies, which was sold for 250 lira per kilogram in Edirne, quickly sold out when it dropped to 100 lira. The abundance experienced brought smiles to both the sellers and the citizens. After the abundance, anchovies found buyers at 100 lira per kilogram. Fisherman Yusuf Çimen, who stated that the price of anchovies, which was sold for 250 lira per kilogram last week, has dropped to 100 lira this week, noted that the prices have fallen due to the abundance of anchovies in the Black Sea.
PEOPLE RUSHED TO BUY
Çimen, stating that there is a high demand from the public and that sales are going well, expressed that they sell between 300-350 boxes in a day and that interest continues. He mentioned that long queues sometimes form, indicating that the season is coming to an end and that there will be no further price drops after this. Şakir Bertan, one of the citizens, stated that he came to buy fish with his friend and that they lined up to buy 10 kilograms of fish. Bertan expressed that the drop in prices is pleasing and that this situation is good for low-income families to be able to buy fish. Sevgi Ergöl, who came to buy fish with her mother, stated that they love anchovies very much and came to buy them when they saw the price drop.
