Famous journalist Yavuz Donat covered the 11th Anatolian Media Awards night in his column. The Anatolian Media Awards, organized for the 11th time this year by the Turkish Press Federation, found their owners at a ceremony held at the Presidential Complex. Donat, who is among the jury members of the award ceremony, stated in his article, which he began with the words "The Presidential Complex... In his article, Donat noted that Sinan Burhan, President of the Turkish Press Federation, has been organizing the Anatolian Media Awards ceremony for 11 years, and emphasized the importance of bringing the problems of the Anatolian media to Ankara.
Donat, stating that journalists from different provinces, from Balıkesir to Şanlıurfa, from Sivas to Aydın, from Manisa to Batman, from Ordu to Hakkâri, came together at the ceremony, evaluated the gathering at the Complex as a meaningful organization for the Anatolian media.
"PROVOCATION" WARNING FROM CEVDET YILMAZ
Donat also included in his article the messages of Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz, who spoke at the ceremony, and conveyed Yılmaz's assessment that Turkey is going through a sensitive process.
Donat drew attention to Yılmaz's words "We have entered a sensitive process... There will be provocations... Disinformation..." and highlighted his message that vigilance should be maintained against power centers that do not want Turkey to strengthen and develop.

AWARD IN MEMORY OF ESMA ERDEM
One of the notable sections in Yavuz Donat's article was reserved for Esma Erdem, who worked as a journalist in the Demirci district of Manisa for many years.
Donat, who described Erdem's struggle in the Anatolian press, who passed away in 2024 at the age of 92, conveyed the effort she put into keeping Halıkent Newspaper alive for years. The award given in Erdem's name was received by her grandson, Namık Kemal Erdem.
"LOCAL MEDIA IS OUT OF SIGHT"
In his article, Donat also touched upon the history of local media in Turkey and the problems it faces today.
Donat, drawing attention to the history of the local press stretching from the Ottoman period to the present, stated that 96 percent of the 659 newspapers currently publishing official announcements are local newspapers. He also noted that local television, radio, and internet news sites form an important media network in Anatolia.
Donat, stating that local media has difficulty conveying its problems to Ankara, expressed that the award ceremony at the Presidential Complex bore the nature of a meeting and embrace between the Anatolian media and Ankara.

At the end of his article, Donat also included the emotional moments experienced at the ceremony, stating that journalists coming from Anatolia attended the night together with their spouses and children.
Donat, noting that emotional moments were experienced in the hall when Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz invited the families to his side, evaluated the night with the words "It was a beautiful evening at the people's house."
