The incident occurred yesterday around 11:30 PM in the 2nd Park Street of Rabiana Neighborhood in the Yakutiye district. Police and medical teams were dispatched to the scene upon reports from those who saw a person lying motionless on the ground. The person who was determined to have been killed by having his throat cut was identified as Erdem Özengiz.
CAUGHT IN A HOUSE 100 METERS AWAY FROM THE CRIME SCENE
After the examination at the crime scene, Özengiz's lifeless body was taken to the morgue for autopsy. The teams from the Homicide and Robbery Bureau of the Public Order Department identified the murder suspect as Nuri Öğmen, who is the cousin of Özengiz's wife. The murder suspect was caught in a house located about 100 meters away from the crime scene. Öğmen, who confessed to the murder to the police, was taken into custody. In his statement at the police station, Öğmen confessed to the murder and was referred to the courthouse after his procedures. The suspect, who appeared before the judge, was arrested.
