The "Witness Documentary," prepared within the scope of the "Mamak Lives with Its Martyrs" project, which was initiated to carry the sacred memories of martyrs to future generations in Mamak, premiered for the first time in a gala program. On a night when martyr families experienced emotional moments, the life stories of the heroes who gave their lives for the homeland and the legacies they left behind were once again etched into memories. The documentary, with the goal of conveying the sacrifices of martyrs to young generations, received great acclaim.

The gala screening of the documentary, prepared within the scope of the project carried out by Mamak District Governorate under the coordination of Mamak District National Education Directorate, was held at Necmettin Erbakan Congress Center. Martyr families, district protocol, and numerous citizens attended the first screening of the documentary, produced by Medya Ankara.

"SIGNS ARE NOT MERELY NAMES"

Mamak District Governor Mehmet Nebi Kaya, who made the opening speech of the program, stated that Mamak is a special district where heroic families who laid their children to rest for the homeland live.

Emphasizing that the names of martyrs on schools, libraries, streets, and parks in the district are not just signs, Kaya said that behind these names lie the stories of heroes who risked their lives for the nation's independence.

MEMORIES OF 11 MARTYRS KEPT ALIVE IN THE DOCUMENTARY

Governor Kaya stated that within the scope of the project, efforts were made to reach the families of 27 martyrs whose names were given to schools, and comprehensive interviews were conducted with 11 martyr families, excluding those who could not participate due to various reasons.

Kaya noted that the life stories of the martyrs and the memories of their families were recorded, emphasizing that this work is a beginning and the project will be expanded further in the coming periods.

THE DEEP MEANING OF THE WORD "WITNESS"

Deputy Minister of National Education Prof. Dr. Cihad Demirli, who attended the gala, emphasized that keeping the memories of martyrs alive is a national responsibility.

Demirli stated that the concept of "witness" means knowing the truth, not forgetting it, and passing it on to future generations, expressing that if education, science, and culture can be talked about today, it is thanks to the sacrifices of martyrs.

"MARTYR NAMES IN SCHOOLS ARE SYMBOLS OF LOVE FOR THE HOMELAND"

Demirli said that the names of martyrs kept alive in educational institutions create an important awareness for students, adding that behind every name lies an unfinished life story and a great sacrifice.

Demirli noted that bringing students together with martyr families and martyrs' graves strengthens the sense of social belonging and commemorated all martyrs with mercy and gratitude.

"WE WILL LEAVE THIS SACRED LEGACY TO OUR YOUTH"

Speaking after the documentary screening, Mamak District National Education Director Ahmet Gençtürk drew attention to the importance of preserving social memory.

Gençtürk said, "We will leave this legacy to our youth. When they take on the responsibility of this country tomorrow, they will protect our homeland and nation by keeping the memories of our martyrs alive."

"WE ARE BUILDING A BRIDGE BETWEEN OUR MARTYRS AND YOUNG GENERATIONS"

Speaking at the end of the program, Project Coordinator Zeynep Kaya said that the most valuable aspect of the project is building bridges of affection between the sacred memories of martyrs and young generations.

Kaya stated that during interviews with martyr families, they closely saw how meaningful it was for them to keep their children's names alive, and noted that thanks to these names that students encounter every day, they connect with a sense of love for the homeland and sacrifice.

The documentary was coordinated by Zeynep Kaya, produced by Medya Ankara, and directed by Erdem Yeşer and Bayram Polat. The script was written by Teacher Nursel Erdoğan, and students and teachers also contributed to the project by taking roles.

After the gala program with high attendance, it was announced that the Witness Documentary will be shown to students in all schools in Mamak.
