In the case of the murder of university student Ayşe Tokyaz, who was killed by former police officer Cemil Koç in Küçükçekmece and whose body was left by the roadside in a suitcase, the prosecutor's office announced its opinion on the merits. The prosecutor demanded an aggravated life sentence for Koç on charges of "premeditated murder of a woman with monstrous intent and torture," as well as 4 to 15 years in prison for "deprivation of liberty" and "blackmail."
An important stage has been reached in the case concerning the murder of university student Ayşe Tokyaz, who was killed by former police officer Cemil Koç in Küçükçekmece and whose body was left on the roadside in a suitcase.
In the case heard at the Küçükçekmece 2nd Heavy Penal Court, the Public Prosecutor submitted his final opinion to the court.
AGGRAVATED LIFE SENTENCE SOUGHT
In the prosecutor's opinion, an aggravated life imprisonment sentence was requested for the defendant Cemil Koç on the charge of "murdering a woman with premeditation and monstrous feelings by inflicting torture."
The prosecutor also requested that Koç be sentenced to 4 to 15 years in prison on charges of "depriving a person of liberty through force, threat, or deception" and "blackmail."
BODY LEFT ON ROADSIDE IN SUITCASE
22-year-old university student Ayşe Tokyaz was killed by former police officer Cemil Koç in July. The young woman's body was then placed in a suitcase and left on the roadside in Eyüpsultan.
Following the murder, Cemil Koç was arrested as part of the investigation, and judicial proceedings were initiated against some suspects considered to be linked to the incident.
After the incident, which caused great outrage in the public, Ayşe Tokyaz's twin sister Esra Tokyaz stated that her sister had previously been subjected to violence and that they had applied to the relevant authorities.
VERDICT HEARING AWAITED
After the prosecutor's opinion was announced, it is expected that the court will render its decision in the case in subsequent hearings, following the reception of the defense statements of the defendant and his lawyers on the merits.
